Playing with your brand

It’s been said that a strong visual identity is a key building block of great brand but it’s not often that the identity comes to life as actual building blocks. So when Fidoodle created a limited edition set of Planet Kid branded blocks we were blown away!

PK_block1_mainLaunched in 2006, Planet Kid seeks to be the “coolest kid boutique” in Canada. With a wide collection of mostly Canadian-designed and made clothes, home décor and accessories, the store has become well known for fresh and fun stuff for babies and kids. A move to a new and larger location in 2013 gave Planet Kid the chance to refresh their brand image. While the new brand identity has already been recognized in number of Design Awards shows include Applied Arts Awards, Brand New Awards and The Reggies, seeing it come to life in hands of a local artist was even more rewarding.

One of the fantastic line of products carried at Planet Kid are the toys and dolls made by Fidoodle. Designed and made in Toronto by Jen Bulthuis, her goods are built from natural and recyclable materials like maple, cardboard, paper and organic cotton and each modern design is constructed to ignite play, story-telling and the continuation of creation.

FidoodleTo celebrate all things Planet Kid, Jen designed and created a special limited edition set of Planet Kid building blocks. One side of the blocks is a magic plant, growing as the blocks are stacked higher. It captures the spirit of adventure and exploration that is at the core of the Planet Kid brand. On the other side is a cameo appearance by Herman the robot in the store window. With blocks like these we are certain the store will continue to build on its reputation as a unique and loved kids store.
